Why it matters
Stocks are the highest-returning mainstream asset because you are buying a piece of real businesses producing real profits. That return comes with real volatility: the same asset that averages about 10% a year including dividends can drop 30% without warning. The only reliable way to handle that is time — over decades, stocks have beaten every other asset class.
